The English for Kids Foundation has been active in Ghana since 2012. Ghana has a plethora of local dialects, making it difficult for its population to communicate with each other. English can therefore help bridge these differences, and provide opportunities to those who can speak it.
At the moment, we are working together with Ghana Gangers, students of Avans Hogeschool and volunteers to develop materials in addtion to the regular English lessons. The course we are developing is based on the Anglia "Step To" Books and will support the projects Family Planning and Hygiene, and will be offered to 20 schools in Ghana.
Although English is integrated in the school system, it seems hard for students to understand the English used in the programmes Family Planning and Hygiene offered by Ghana Ganger volunteers.
